The Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Jember Establishes Strategic Cooperation with PT. East West Seed Indonesia

Jember, 17 Juli 2025, Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jember (Faperta UNEJ) resmi menjalin kerja sama strategis dengan PT. East West Seed Indonesia, a leading horticultural seed company in Indonesia. The signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) took place at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember, and was attended by faculty leaders and representatives from PT. East West. This collaboration covers various areas, ranging from improving the quality of education, joint research, to the development of modern agricultural practices based on innovation. One of the main focuses is the student internship program and the development of demonstration plots on campus to support practice-based learning.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at UNEJ, Prof. M. Rondhi, S.P., M.P., Ph.D., welcomed this collaboration. “We are very enthusiastic about collaborating with PT. East West, which has proven to make significant contributions to the development of high-quality national seeds. This collaboration is expected to enrich students' learning experiences and open opportunities for applied research and innovation in the field of agriculture,” he said. Meanwhile, a representative from PT. East West Seed Indonesia stated that this collaboration is part of the company's commitment to supporting the education sector and nurturing a new generation of competent farmers and agronomists.
“We believe that synergy between industry and academia will result in better and more sustainable agricultural solutions.” Through this collaboration, both parties have also agreed to hold training sessions, workshops, and technical assistance for students and lecturers, while exploring opportunities for joint research in the development of superior horticultural crop varieties. The collaboration between Faperta UNEJ and PT. East West is expected to be the first step in a long-term collaboration that can provide tangible benefits for the agricultural sector, both at the local and national levels.
