Jember, April 10, 2025 - The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember (UNEJ) successfully organized an international Guest Lecture by presenting a guest speaker from abroad, Professor Orawan Srisompun, Ph.D. from Mahasarakham University (MSU), Thailand. This activity is part of the efforts of academic internationalization, research collaboration, student exchange, and strengthening global networks within the Faculty of Agriculture UNEJ. The event began with an official speech from the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. M. Rondhi, S.P., MP., Ph.D. In his speech, he conveyed the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange between universities across countries, especially in the field of agriculture which is now facing global challenges. In the presentation session, Prof. Orawan Srisompun shared various interesting insights into the development of the agricultural sector in Thailand. He explained about the leading products developed in Thailand, agricultural innovation strategies, and sustainable approaches in commodity management.
In addition, he also introduced a comprehensive profile of Mahasarakham University, including student activities, academic facilities, lecturers and departments, and cultural life on the MSU campus. One of the important highlights in this activity is the strengthening of student exchange cooperation between institutions. Prof. Orawan said that in July 2025, seven students from UNEJ's Faculty of Agriculture will go to Thailand for a three-month exchange student program, supported by scholarships from Mahasarakham University. As part of the reciprocal collaboration, MSU is also sending one of its students to carry out an internship program at UNEJ's Faculty of Agriculture for two months. This exchange is expected to enrich the academic and cultural experience for students on both sides, as well as pave the way for further research and development cooperation.
The event was attended by the dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, heads of study programs, and student representatives from 11 study programs in the Faculty of Agriculture at UNEJ. The question and answer session was active and interactive, showing the high enthusiasm of the participants for the opportunities and topics discussed.
